Racing Lane Line

Our Swedish-made racing lanes were introduced as "the wave killer" in Montreal in 1976. Since then, it has been the official racing lane used in most World and European Championships and other international competitions.

Not just a lane divider!

A common misconception is that people think the racing lane lines sole function is to divide the pool lanes. In fact, our racing lanes has a patented design for optimum wave reduction. Each disc is designed to rotate independently of the others, breaking down the wave energy inside the line. The weight of the line has been tested to get the perfect density for the best wave turbulence control. Therefore Malmsten lines are the preferred choice not only for championships but also during daily work-outs and other pool activities.

A Swedish quality product - in constant evolution

Racing lane lines are manufactured in Sweden which allows us to control all stages of production. The last step, assembly, is done at our headquarters in Ahus.

Racing lane lines are made either with 100 mm (4") or 150 mm (6") discs, kept afloat with donuts, treaded on a 4 mm strong stainless steel wire.

A world leader to stay – there is constant focus on keeping ahead. In 2014 the lane line was extensively stress-tested; it was put through over 1500 hours of extreme chlorine levels, wind and sun rays, all that is so tough on equipment in our public swimming environments. Staying within EU-rules, we have optimized the UV-stabilizers, anti-oxidants and color fastness. We have found that more material gives more density which is better for turbulence control.

Staying within the World Aquatics (formerly FINA) rules, we have optimized lane lines weight to offer the best attenuation. No other lane line measures up – compare other lane lines weight, material performance or dimension on wire – Malmsten is simply the best choice!
