Racing Lane Line Development through the years.
Malmsten Racing Lane Lines have an impressive resumé, chosen for 9 Olympic Games starting with Montreal 1976 and; Moscow 1980... Tokyo 2020.
Swedish production by Malmsten was started already in 1974
Before the 1992 Olympics Malmsten introduced the Gold Racing Lane Line, our 6”/150mm, which became the new international standard for many years to follow.
Our Gold lane line was presented to FINA and approved as the new official racing lane line. At Malmsten we strive to be at the forefront when it comes to utilizing technology and development. After the 2012 Olympic Games in London, we began working with KTH (Royal Technical Institution) and professor Kuttenkeuler to study the effects of wave energy reduction and absorption. The studies were designed to test the wave reduction effect on our lane lines compared to others on the market. Professor Kuttenkeuler’s studies have shown that the Official Racing Lane Line Gold by Malmsten reduces water turbulence and wave energy by up to 90 percent. It also concluded that these lane lines are superior to any other lane lines on the market. Impressive!
But not only functionality is important to us. Durability is also key. We have invested in ensuring to use the best raw material on the market; a durable and safe plastic composition, where UV-protection, colorfastness and anti-oxidants are at its maximum. Sustainability is important to us.
In 2019 Gold PRO – 6” /150mm Racing Lane Line- was launched as a result of many years of product testing and studies.
With these results – a new and improved flow through technic is being used - proving our lane lines are the best on the market, we have continued to develop our product. Now we proudly present Malmsten Gold Pro, our latest innovation. Our focus is to improve excellent wave reduction and wave energy control and give swimmers optimal conditions to break new world records. Gold PRO was used for Swim Open in Stockholm 2019, for FINA World Championships in Gwangju 2019 and again for LEN European Swimming Championships in Glasgow 2019. This is the NEW International Standards and Official FINA Racing Lane Line.
A renewed partnership with FINA was signed up to 2024, including equipment for the Olympic Games in Paris.
In 2020 Classic PRO - 4”/100mm - was introduced with the same successful design as the Gold PRO, but a 4” /100mm version for the choice of certain pools.
